It was recently revealed that Tiger Woods had back surgery.

Even though we hope the best for him, it’s difficult to forget the terrible sex scandal that occurred almost ten years ago.

While more current scandals are engulfing the globe, no one can forget the drama surrounding Tiger Woods’ cheating in November 2009.

Sam Alexis and Charlie Axel were Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren’s two children together. They had been married for about five years at the time. News of Tiger’s insane infidelity surfaced around Charlie’s birth, and it brought about the collapse of his golf career and marriage.

The fact that he was a serial cheater who had affairs with over 100 women made this scandal extremely embarrassing. First among the women connected to him was Rachel Uchitel. To persuade his wife that the scandal was untrue, he even arranged a phone conversation with his mistress.

August 2010 saw the divorce of Tiger and Elin. It’s unforgivable for some women to repeat the same error repeatedly, but not for others. Since you have two children with your stunning Swedish wife, what exactly is wrong with your life that requires you to cheat on her?

Even though Nordegren was only thirty years old at the time of her divorce, the settlement was worth every penny. A year after their divorce, she spent a portion of the $100 million she received to buy a multimillion-dollar mansion in North Palm Beach. She recently brought that house for slightly less than $29 million. Russell Weiner of Rockstar Energy Drink was the buyer.

It’s good news that Elin found love again and developed the ability to trust a different man in her relationship. A multibillionaire coal magnate and philanthropist, Chris Cline was her sporadically romantic partner. Tiger loves golf, but that’s definitely a step up! The pair nevertheless failed to work things out, and they split up in 2017. Cline passed away on July 4, 2019, just two years later, in a helicopter crash.

Elin and Tiger got divorced more than ten years ago, and a lot has happened in that time. Even though they have each pursued different romantic paths, they have managed to co-parent peacefully.

Elin chose to choose a peaceful truce for the benefit of her two children, despite having a lot of baggage and animosity to let go of. She even gets along well with Woods’ present girlfriend, Erica Herman, and is glad that they are dating.

In October 2016, Woods said in an interview with Stephen Colbert, “We have Sam and we have Charlie. And we love them so much that we are going to do whatever it takes to make that work. We communicate so much better now, it’s incredible. I wish we would have done that earlier on, but it’s been incredible to have a best friend like that.”

Tiger, perhaps you ought to have visited a couples therapist rather than corresponding with a different woman while you were still married! After so many affairs and betrayals, we wonder what his ex-wife would think of him calling her his best friend.

Nordegren herself hasn’t spoken on the cheating scandal, but in 2014, called their divorce “the wild storm of my personal life” and even managed to have a sense of humor about it, joking, “It was right after I had taken Communications and the Media that I was unexpectedly thrust into the media limelight… and I probably should have taken more notes in that class.”
